Hello new day!

Well here we go a new day a nice new blog!. I hope I can keep up with it, not that I am sure many peole would want to ready my ramblings about our ordinary everyday lives. Will try and update when i get the chance, at the least i will try for weekly, some weeks i do get very busy.

I am a locomotive driver. (ie, drive trains) this job is irregular shift work. It is an insteresting job, sometimes boring, other times very interesting. get to work with different people most of the time. Also get to see some very pretty scenery while travelling along the tracks. I have just finished 5 days off which was nice.

During this time off, I didn't get a lot of rest. We did finish off the main bulk of our veggie patch though which was nice. we can now plant in half of it. (will post a photo when I am able to) In the meantime, I need to devise a way to keep the dogs from jumping into it and digging up all our hard work! I might have to try some electric fence, might do the trick.

Here is the finished garden. Well.. half finished..

We have 10 chickens down the back. Which includes 2 silkies. They are cute but have small eggs when they do start laying. Currently getting 4 eggs a day, I think the rest will start laying soon as they are 'coming of age'. Need to fix up the nesting boxes though, the chickens somehow manage to push the 'grass stuff' out of the box and the eggs land on the hard timber! Have already found a couple of broken eggs so will have to get onto it.

Heres what one breed of our chickens looks like. Very pretty speckled. Lays big eggs too! also the chicken area. They have a pretty big space to scartch around in, we let them out int the yard when the dogs are out the front.

Silkies! very fluffy.

Have to leave now though, getting late and i have an early start tomorrow. Should be a good week. will have to plant some veges so they will start growing asap!

Edited to add photos!
