Showers for the garden

Getting a bit of shower out here today. It has been overcast for the last couple of days, so to finally get some rain is nice. Is a bit of a problem as I was hoping to do some washing, I will have to use the dryer now to dry them. More electricity, not a good thing.

General house work here otherwise. Some more decluttering. I still think we have too much 'stuff' in our lives and need to slim it down a bit more. I have gotten rid of a few things from under the house already, but need to fill another trailer with 'stuff' to get rid of.

I have started knitting a fluffy beanie for my niece for winter time. I will hopefully have it finished in time. I also need to knit myself a few more dishcloths, for use when these ones are in the wash. I sent out a heap for christmas last year. I hope everyone is getting some great use out of them. I find them very handy, and think they are great for the environment as they reduce landfill. Another idea I use is buying a pack of cheap shower caps. I get them in a pack of 6 for $1 and use them as food covers. It is great for bowls and all sorts of dishes. I throw them in the wash and reuse them untill they are falling apart. Certainly saves on clingwrap all the time.

I broke my office chair last night. :( One of the arm rests just snapped off! Hehehe certainly scared rogue who was having a nice little sleep just under my chair at the time. The chair is still useable though, I kind miss the arm rests though, good for when I was sitting back reading something. The puppies are doing very well and we are continuing to train them. Rogue is now a year old, so considered an adult dog now. Apparently she will continue to act like a puppy for another year yet, something to look forward to I guess. Tank is only a couple of months behind her. They are slowly getting better behaved. They still get super excited when they see some one though.

Have been pulling prickles out of the lawn over the last couple of days. I am trying to pull it all up before it goes to seed. If the ground is soft enough, it does pull straight out, it seems to have a bulb shaped root on the end of it. Still nothing in the vegie patch yet. We were unable to source the electric fence on loan, so might have to look around a bit more and see what we can do to keep the dogs out of it. It is pointless to plant anything in it becuase the dogs will dig it up. They know they're not allowed up there, and they do get into trouble when they are caught, but they still jump up there. I think they like the fact they can see more from up there.

The pawpaw trees that were planted as seeds up the back are starting to take off a bit more. I am hoping they are able to bear fruit. I have never grown pawpaw before, will be different. The chickens are doing well, laying more eggs, and we let them out to roam the backyard most afternoons. They love it, everytime I open the chook gate, they are trying to run out into the yard to scratch around. I am sure our dogs would like to play with them too :S . Not a good idea!
