Plum jam!

Well the weekend is here. I have a few days off and a few things to do so will have to do up a list or something. So far the sink has been cleaned everynight which is great. Just need to keep at it. It does feel good to get up in the morning and see the nice clean kitchen. I might be ready to start adding some more stuff to do each time :D

I achieved some plum jam last night. On closer inspection of the plums, only a couple on the top were beyond hope. The rest cleaned up fine for jam and we ended up with 4 jars. I still have about 2kg of apricots to go into jam, which will hopefully happen today. Am running short on jars unfortunately. I would definately like to get some of the smaller ones, all the ones i've used so far have been pretty big, and that is a lot of jam to get through once you open the jar. I will try and get to the op shops on monday and see if they have any jars going free or cheap. The plum jam ended up a little bit more runny then I thought it would, but Paul likes it that way, so thats good. I might send a few jars out to relatives over the next couple of months, I also wanted to try some pickling (if we ever get the garden bed up and growing).

Really need to get the yard mowed today, i wa slack yesterday and spent way too much time on my computer. It has been overcast the last 2 days, but hasn't rained yet. I am hoping it will hold off untill I get get the mowing done. The grass is going to be a pain as it is already getting pretty long and thick. I weeded around the mysterious pumpkin vine today. Still no pumpkins, but it has grown like wild and is taking over the whole garden bed. Everytime it sticks a runner out I turn it around and run it down the length of the bed. It is a struggle to keep up with it though. I hope it gets some pumpkin on it soon, it's getting very annoying. While doing weeding I found some capsicum plants that had survived the pumpkin growing over them, and they seemed to be doing well. I will have to keep an eye on them for any capsicum that grows. Here is a picture of my pumpkin vine. the vine actually grows further to the right of the picture, just couldn't fit it all in!

Hmm the funny thing with a blog is everyone knows what you have been up to and what you are trying to achieve, it is a little too much like a diary in some ways. but I am glad that family, if they are intersted, can look us up online and see how we are going in our daily living. Saves having to make a phone call anyway. I know I sent out invites to family, but you I changed the permisions after i sent them so you don't actually need to sign up to view the blog. Hi to all the friends and family out there in the big world checking us out, I will catch up to you next time.
